Singing Lessons

“I had always wanted singing lessons & I’m so glad I found Sophie as she is an excellent teacher who has helped me to find the perfect songs to develop my voice. I have learnt so much, not just about pitch but also about self-expression & connecting with my emotions through singing. Sophie is a highly knowledgable, kind, sensitive & generous teacher.”

Testimonials

“I was convinced there was something wrong with me preventing me from singing. All my life people had told me I couldn't sing so seeing Sophie was like an experiment for me to see if I could sing.

It was transformative. She first got me relaxed and taught me how to breathe, various warm-up exercises and, over time, how to activate different parts of my voice. I am so happy I started seeing her - she is great. She is also very warm, calm and friendly which is so helpful for losing your inhibitions and letting go.”

“Sophie works tirelessly at The Sydney Russell School in order to ensure success for her students. She has developed students individually, as well as leading ensembles such as Chamber Choir and Barbershop Boys. She has also worked closely with our students to help prepare them for exams and auditions, with 7 of our students currently on the Royal Academy of Music Junior courses. Sophie's personal but professional approach has had a real positive impact on the students that she has worked with.”

“Sophie's knowledge, patience and guidance has helped me massively as a total beginner to singing. My confidence and technique have already improved after just a few lessons, and Sophie explains things really clearly in a way I can understand. I specifically wanted to work on how to use the breath properly during singing, so Sophie has paid particular attention to this during our lessons. Her understanding of vocal anatomy is also super helpful when it comes to practising technique. I am looking forward to continuing to explore my range, clean up my sound and hopefully work towards singing in front of others. Thank you Sophie!”

“Sophie brings a warm and friendly energy to every lesson. We have seen Sophie’s personal approach to her teaching, working at the pace of the child and focusing on aspects of music which particularly interest them.

With her guidance my children have gained in confidence, technique and excelled in their singing performance.

I would highly recommend Sophie as a teacher.”
